About Us

In 2006 our popcorn venture began.  We are Ruben and Mary Jo Lugo, raising our family in the wonderful small town of West Liberty, Iowa.  We have two children, that you will also see representing Lugo's Gourmet Popcorn.  In 2006, we started making Kettle Corn for our local community, as well as traveling to small events close to West Liberty.  About 10 years later we added our delicious Caramel Corn to the menu.  During the pandemic we found ourselves with a lot of extra time on our hands, allowing us to perfect some of our newest Gourmet Flavors.  In the spring of 2022 we launched some of our tasty flavors, one of the most popular being White Cheddar.  There are other favorites that are fruity,  savory blends, caramel apple, cherry cordial, and fruitalicious just to name a few.  Just this spring we were able to secure a commercial location that has allowed us to venture into providing our gourmet popcorn at events (ie graduations, weddings, birthdays, etc).  While we have our mobile business that keeps us popping all summer long, we can now make popcorn all year long.   We look forward to providing you with the best gourmet popcorn in eastern Iowa.
